Beautycounter
Based in Santa Monica, CA, Beautycounter, a direct-to-consumer skincare and cosmetic company, has over 150 products and over 40,000 independent consultants. Founded by Gregg Renfrew in 2013, Beautycounter’s mission is to transform the beauty industry by creating clean, high-performing skin care and makeup and to get safer products into the hands of everyone.
The company’s advocacy efforts bring the topic of product ingredient safety to the attention of many lawmakers and places the issues of transparent labeling and the industry’s impact on climate change to the legislative agendas of members of Congress to urge the passing of clean beauty laws.
What we delivered
Working closely with the Beautycounter team, we designed and produced a line of full fabric hats. Given the ethos of the beauty brand, we designed the line to mimic not just their advocacy for clean beauty laws, but their minimalist and concise “less is more” brand identity.
The full fabric custom hats come in black and a light pink have a 6‑panel design with customizations that include:
- The Beautycounter logo is applied differently across each hat in the collection — flat embroidered and a merrowed edged logo patch placed on the center of the unstructured crown
- One hat style in the collection has the Beautycounter logo flat embroidered on the right-side panel
- Curved brim style
- Silver metal closure buckle
- Enzyme washed twill crown material, creating a softer finish and a worn-in look and feel
- Screen printed interior taping with brand messaging
- Woven exterior label tag with an iconographic version of the Beautycounter logo affixed to the buckle closure
- Branded woven label on the interior sweatband
