Our selection of hats for runners
All you need to know: running hats
How can running hats promote accessibility for people with disabilities?
For running hats, the following accessibility standards improve the running experience for people with disabilities.
- Visibility. For runners with visual impairments, brightly colored or reflective running hats with readable fonts can help them be more visible to others. This is especially important if they are running with other visually impaired people.
- Sun protection. Many people with disabilities may be more sensitive to sun exposure due to medications or mobility issues that prevent them from seeking shade easily. Running hats with wide brims or neck flaps can provide extra protection from harmful UV rays.
- Sensory considerations. Some individuals with sensory processing disorders or autism may be sensitive to certain fabrics or tags in hats. Running hat manufacturers that consider these needs and produce tagless, soft, or moisture-wicking options (such as a performance mesh internal sweatband) can make their products more accessible to a broader range of users.
- Adaptive features. Running hats designed with adaptive features, such as magnetic closures or easy-to-adjust straps, can be helpful for individuals with limited hand dexterity or mobility issues
If you need running hats with special accessibility features for people with disabilities, let us know. We can customize our running hats to the needs of the disabled, including those with visual impairment, sensory processing issues, or other concerns.
Highly readable fonts, bright color options, wicking performance mesh, and tagless designs can make all the difference for some populations, and we’re happy to oblige.

What is the point of a running hat?
Whether you’re trail running, ultramarathoning, or out for a leisurely jog, a running-specific hat is your best friend. Here are some of the benefits that a quality hat provides to runners:
- Sun protection. Running hats shield the face, eyes, and scalp from UV rays.
- Sweat control. Wicking performance mesh absorbs and moves moisture away from the eyes.
- Comfort in hot weather. A running hat provides shade to regulate body temperature.
- Enhanced visibility. Bright colors or reflective parts provide low-light safety.
- Weather defense. Running hats protect against windy conditions and light rain.
- Performance boost. Features such as breathable fabric improve comfort.
- Hair management. A running hat keeps hair secure and out of the face while running.
- Custom options. Running hats enable personalized or branded designs.
- Lightweight construction. Performance fabrics add minimal weight.
Can you wash a running hat?
When taking care of your favorite running hat, there’s an important guideline to follow: avoid machine washing it. Although it might seem convenient to throw it in with your other laundry, the movement and heat from a washing machine can severely damage the gentle fabrics and structure of your hat.
What makes a good running hat?
A good running hat is an essential piece of gear for many runners, offering comfort, protection, and functionality. Here are some key features that make a custom running hat produced by Anthem Branding stand out:
- Breathability: A good running hat should allow for adequate air circulation to help manage sweat and keep the head cool. Materials like mesh panels enhance airflow.
- Moisture-wicking: The fabric should be able to draw sweat away from the skin to the exterior of the hat where it can evaporate quickly, helping to keep the runner dry and comfortable.
- Lightweight Design: A lightweight hat won’t feel cumbersome or add unnecessary weight, making it easier to wear for prolonged periods.
- Durability: Quality materials and construction ensure that the hat can withstand the rigors of regular running and washing without losing shape or functionality.
- Sun Protection: A running hat should offer UV protection to shield the runner from harmful sun rays. This can include a wide brim or built-in UPF ratings in the fabric.
- Adjustability: An adjustable strap or band can help secure the hat to different head sizes, ensuring a snug and comfortable fit that doesn’t slip during vigorous movement.
- Quick-drying: Since running can lead to sweating, a hat that dries quickly is beneficial, particularly in wet or humid conditions.
- Visibility: For those who run early in the morning or late at night, reflective elements on the hat can improve visibility and safety.
- Style and Comfort: While functional aspects are crucial, the overall look and comfort of the hat also play an important role, as it should feel good and complement the runner’s attire.
Anthem Branding can help create a hat with these characteristics can greatly enhance a runner’s comfort and performance, making your brand stand out.

Running hat customizations
Custom screen-printed running hats
Screen printing applies ink directly to the hat’s surface through a mesh stencil. This method produces bold, colorful designs that catch the eye and demand attention.
Screen printing excels at creating large, impactful graphics on running hats. The technique lets you print intricate details and choose from a wide range of colors to bring logos and slogans to life. The flat, smooth finish of screen-printed designs complements the texture of running hat fabrics.
For your business, custom screen-printed hats represent a cost-effective branding solution. The process suits large-scale production; perfect for trade shows or widespread promotional campaigns. The durability of screen-printed designs means your brand remains visible through countless runs and workouts.
Custom embroidered running hats
Custom embroidery, a technique that uses thread and needles to create raised designs, adds a premium touch to custom sport performance hats. Intricate logos and text can be stitched directly onto the hat’s fabric. The result? A durable, high-quality finish that withstands sweat and weather.
Embroidery transforms basic running hats into eye-catching promotional items. The textured, three-dimensional effect makes logos pop — your brand will stand out during every run or workout. Unlike printed designs, embroidered elements maintain their crisp appearance over time. They won’t fade or peel.
For corporate swag, custom-embroidered hats offer a perfect mix of functionality and style. Everybody will appreciate the practical value of a well-made running hat, while your businesses benefit from the professional, upscale look of embroidered branding. It’s a win-win that turns everyone into a walking advertisement for your brand.
We’ll embroider any of the following hat areas:
- Front panel
- Rear panels
- Rear strap
- Brim

Running hat FAQs
What is the turnaround time for a custom hat order?
Turnaround time depends on whether you go with an off-the-shelf hat with your logo, or you want to customize more hat details, such as closure, material, stitching, and more.
- The standard turnaround time for producing an order of off-the-shelf hats is around 2 weeks (+ shipping time). If you have an event soon, or your in-hand date is approaching quickly, this is likely the best option to meet your deadline.
- The turnaround time for custom hats can vary anywhere from 2 to 4 months, depending on different order variables. One variable that comes into play is your delivery date, which will help inform the shipment method of your order.
- Air shipping: 2 – 2.5 months (3 weeks for sample, 1 month full production, 2 weeks for shipping)
- Ocean shipping: 3 – 4 months (3 weeks for sample, 1 month full production, 3 months for shipping)

What color of running hat should I wear?
Bright colors enhance visibility in low-light conditions. Darker colors absorb more heat in hot weather. Consider your running environment and personal style. For versatility, neutral tones work well with different outfits.
How can I choose the right running hat?
Your hat makes all the difference in the quality of your running experience. When choosing a running hat, look for the following.
- Fit: you want the hat to fit well and stay on in windy conditions.
- Adjustability, such as adjustable straps.
- Sweat-wicking ability, such as a performance mesh internal sweatband
- Breathability. Look for hats with mesh rear panels, airflow vents, or other features that promote maximum airflow through the hat.
- Sun protection. Think about a wide brim, neck flap, or other measures for additional shade. Avoid darker colors.
- Visibility features (reflective details, bright colors).
- Personal style preferences: get a style that you like and look good in.
- Climate-specific. If you’re running in cold weather, think about a thermal beanie, or at least a hat with ear protection. If you’re running in hot weather, go for maximum ventilation.
Choose a style that suits your running conditions — wide brim for intense sun, or ear coverage for cold weather.
What is the difference between a running and a baseball cap?
Running caps prioritize lightweight construction and breathable fabric. They often feature mesh side panels and moisture-wicking materials. Baseball caps may have a sturdier build and focus more on sun protection with a wider brim.
